U.S. dollar index
The Us dollar Index is gearing up for a fresh rally ahead. FED is expected to announce a new rate hike of 75 basis points, however investors are prepared for an even higher upgrade of the rates, after the last weeks. Inflation data, which showed that FED needs to take measures to fight it.
Gold
Gold prices faced a vertical fall, since the dollar is climbing on the rumours for the higher rates increase. The precious metal it is trading close to $1660, and the new FED meeting and rates decision, will be a major impact on the direction that Gold will follow.
Oil
Oil prices fell early on Monday as fears of a global recession fuelled worries that growth in fuel demand will slow, although supply worries ahead of the European Union’s embargo on Russian oil in December capped declines.
Stocks
Market participants are focusing this week on the Federal Reserve’s interest rate decision, following a hotter than expected CPI reading that boosted expectations for a third consecutive 0.75% rate hike, lifting Fed funds rate to a target range of 3% to 3.25%.
