WEEKLY ECONOMIC CALENDAR AHEAD
Here is what you need to know about the important news between November 14th 2022 and November 18th 2022, where we take a look at the economic data, market news and headlines likely to have the biggest impact on the market prices this week and beyond, as well as the US Dollar, and other key correlated assets.
U.S. dollar index
Last week’s softer U.S. inflation data fuelled expectations that the Fed will get less aggressive with rate hikes from December after four consecutive 75 basis point increases. Data to be released this week from US, should provide an insight into how consumers are faring ahead of the holiday season.
Gold
Gold for the last week had the best week for a long time, managing to climb up to 1770. Profit taking by investors, pushed the precious metal to retreat for a while , and analysts expect it to show continuance since the rate hikes expectancy is to be done with a lower aggression, (0.50% instead of 0.75%).
Oil
Crude prices closed last week lower but rallied sharply on Friday after China said it will loosen some measures under its strict zero-COVID policy for the first time ever. Hawkish signals from the Federal Reserve also weighed slightly on oil prices, as Fed Governor Christopher Waller warned that while the bank is considering a slower pace of rate hikes in the coming months, it is not softening its stance against inflation.
Stocks
Ahead in the week, investors will be closely monitoring fresh Retail Sales data, along with other data in order to for investors to identify and have an idea if the FED will stop the aggressive rate hikes on the next meeting. Holiday season also starts, and sales indication for the next month should be important on how the economy is moving forward.
